Steph from Stephfood was our Daring Cooks’ July hostess.  Steph challenged us to make homemade noodles without the help of a motorized pasta machine.  She provided us with recipes for Spätzle and Fresh Egg Pasta as well as a few delicious sauces to pair our noodles with! I’m back (kind of)!

So it took a little longer to get this post up than anticipated. Between travelling and studying for an exam I just haven’t had time. But it was pointed out to me yesterday that I should put a recipe up even though I don’t have enough time to write a long post and I wanted to finish off my Daring Cooks Challenge. Exam time is so stressful, but it’s over… at least for this year. Now I’m waiting with bated breath for my marks to be posted. In the mean time I’ll catch you up with everything I’ve made in the last couple weeks. Starting with the spaghetti and vodka cream sauce.

Sometimes I hate being a part-time student, there just isn’t enough time to study and do all the things that I’d rather be doing. This time of year is the worst… exam prep. I turn into a crazy person, seriously scary crazy, you don’t want to be seen with me crazy, snapping at the tiniest things or interruptions crazy. But of course we still have to eat. I’ve done so much cooking since my last post, I just haven’t had the time to write anything (other then biology study notes which is what I should be doing right now…). One more week of the insanity and I swear I’ll catch up on all the great things that I’ve made.

I was stuck in a pasta rut. For the longest time (my whole life) pasta came in three ways; with a vegetable tomato sauce (with or without meat), as a cold salad with oil and vinegar, or if I was lucky with an afredo cream sauce. That’s what happens when your mom is like mine. Don’t get me wrong she’s a great cook and she likes lots of different things but certain dishes are always prepared the same way.

I was so sick of those options but for some reason I was unable to get away from them. But then I started surfing the blogs and I saw all the great things that other people were making that were not like anything I would have ever even thought of.
