Guess what Santa brought me… no not ice cream. An ice cream machine! Well not Santa really. Last sunday at our Christmas gathering we exchanged gifts with some of the family. The ice cream machine is from my grandmother. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I was to get this gift. I’ve been drooling over different blogs homemade ice creams and dreaming about making my own.

Confession time… I’ve never made brownies from scratch. I didn’t even like brownies all that much until about a year ago when I was introduced to Ghirardelli double chocolate brownie mix. You can’t go wrong with Ghirardelli and this mix turns out perfect. Not to mention it’s super easy.

What a hit! As I mentioned in my 12 Days of Christmas Baking post yesterday my family had our first Christmas gathering last night. As usual I was delegated the task of making a dessert. I really don’t think that a Christmas (or Thanksgiving) celebration is complete with out a fruit pie. Apple pies are my favourite but I wanted to make something a little more interesting and unique to add to our dessert table.

Nanaimo bars are one of my most favorite desserts. Surprisingly, I’ve never made hem myself. It’s my Aunt Joy that has the best recipe. Unfortunately I didn’t ask her for it before I made these. Although mine are good, they just aren’t as good as hers. I’m sure that it’s just a matter of using a different brand of one of the ingredients.

Jealous? Of my cake… I am and I made it. But that isn’t what I mean. I’m jealous of all of you that celebrated Thanksgiving the other day. I’ve been checking out all my favourite blogs and seeing great leftovers recipes. I LOVE leftovers!!!! I know I know, I we had our Thanksgiving not that long ago, and Christmas isn’t that far away. There’s bound to be lots of leftovers then, but still… I want them now!
