Guess what Santa brought me… no not ice cream. An ice cream machine! Well not Santa really. Last sunday at our Christmas gathering we exchanged gifts with some of the family. The ice cream machine is from my grandmother. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I was to get this gift. I’ve been drooling over different blogs homemade ice creams and dreaming about making my own.

We’re getting close to the end of the 12 Days of Baking, 2 more recipes left after today. I don’t think that I’ve ever had so much sugar in my entire life. Maybe it would have been smart to make a Christmas recipe from a cookbook, but I didn’t. So although I did make a cookbook recipe you’ll just have to wait till next week, when I’ll be done with all this Christmas baking, to hear about it.

What a hit! As I mentioned in my 12 Days of Christmas Baking post yesterday my family had our first Christmas gathering last night. As usual I was delegated the task of making a dessert. I really don’t think that a Christmas (or Thanksgiving) celebration is complete with out a fruit pie. Apple pies are my favourite but I wanted to make something a little more interesting and unique to add to our dessert table.

Just a quick post, as I’m getting ready to go to the first family Christmas gathering of the season.

While I was thinking about making chocolate chip cookies as one of my 12 Days of Christmas recipes, my mind changed three times with how to go about making them. My original intention to make a classic and simple chewy chocolate chip cookie first changed when I realized that there were mint chocolate chips in the pantry. So my the recipe changed to mint chocolate chip cookies. Just a bit of a twist on the classic chocolate chip recipe but with more of a Christmasy feel. Then I saw the leftover mint marshmallows and decided to change the whole direction of the cookie.
